    1. The king wanted more than land. The colonists were rebelling against his orders, they even drenched British tax collectors in oil.

  3. (7) In the colonies at the time for freedom, religion played a role for the fight for freedom because many colonists pursued the right for freedom of worshiping, the right for you to worship any religion. Many people fought for this because of the church of England, where you were only allowed to worship certain religions.

The British were called redcoats, lobsterbacks, regulars and bloodybacks. They had to do with red things because they would get whipped. The Americans that fought were called the "Continental Army" they were "Patriots", "Minute Men", or "Rebels" or even the name "Yankees". These were the most common names. How Continental army dressed. At a later date, General Washington expressed his preference for the Virginian hunting shirt desirable for his Continental Army emphasizing its simplicity and the inexpensive cost. How The British dressed. British soldiers always wore uniforms. This allowed them to tell friend from foe - - but why RED? Well, for one thing, it looked good and added to the frightening appearance of the army in battle. ALSO, Battlefields in the 1700’s were smoky, confusing places. Red uniforms made it easier for British officers to see their men through the smoke of battle. As a result, they were better able to control the action, and could avoid shooting their own troops!

The book "My brother Sam is Dead" was written by James Lincoln Collier. It was a Newbery Honor book that was also named an ALA Notable Children's Book and nominated for a National Book Award in 1975. I think that he might have wrote this because maybe he had a brother in a war or knows somebody that was in war fighting against either their brother or their father. James published his book in 1978. Hes was born june 27 1928 he is know 86.
